Cleveland Park Yoga opened in October of 2006. The founders Rebecca Bly and Purvi Doriswamy shared a vision of a small yoga community that would allow them to reach out to new students while embracing their individual creativity. The small size of our community and attention to personal detail make our group unique. Classes started in the Cleveland Park Club and moved in February 2008 to The Center in Tenleytown providing an opportunity to share yoga with a broader community.
All Cleveland Park Yoga classes are held at The Center in Tenleytown. It is a truly unique place in DC which supports yoga teachers, personal trainers, massage therapists and other types of teachers and healers by providing them a beautifully warm and fully functional space to offer their services. Rebecca Bly Rebecca began studying yoga in high school under the influence of all the interesting folks who hung around her parent's health food store in Wayne, PA. She continued her yoga studies with local studios while she attended GWU to pursue a degree in Math. After graduating in 2002, she started training to be a yoga teacher and eventually earned her 200hr RYT in 2006. She is currently working as a software developer and is training to become a Wellness Coach. Read more.
Teaching Style Rebecca's teaching style can be categorized as a mindful medium paced vinyasa flow. The class will change depending on what she has seen and done recently whether it's prana vinyasa flow, vippasana meditations, budokon, restorative or a dance performance - anything goes! She offers stages of posturing in class so both the novice and the expert are equally challenged.
